Thursday was an incredibly busy day in the world of sports. Most notably, there were 12 NFL Preseason games being played, so 3/4 of the league was getting some action in. Everybody wanted to see the new-look Cleveland Browns, and they did not disappoint.

The Browns went into New York and played the Giants, who deployed Saquon Barkley, the #2 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Barkley had 43 yards on just 4 carries, his first run of the game netted 39 yards, very similar to his numbers at Penn State. The Browns offense looked pretty good, Tyrod Taylor started and went 5-5 for 99 yards and a touchdown to TE David Njoku.

Baker Mayfield was impressive in his NFL debut, showing why the Browns took him #1 overall in the draft. Mayfield’s final numbers were 11-20, 212 yards and 2 touchdowns. Mayfield also ran 3 times for 13 yards, picking up a first down with his legs on a 3rd down and a 4th down. The Browns won 20-10.

The Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Chicago Bears for their first Preseason game, and came away with a 30-27 victory. Andy Dalton went 6-8 passing for 103 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception that was returned for a touchdown. This game was very even the whole way, but the Bengals pulled away by forcing 3 Chicago turnovers. Check out the highlights.

After one day of the PGA Championship, American Gary Woodland is atop the leaderboard after shooting a (-6) 64 on Thursday. Rickie Fowler is just behind him at (-5), Zach Johnson and Brandon Stone are at (-4), and 11 golfers are at (-3) after the first round. After playing the first two holes (+3), Tiger Woods rallied and grinded his way back to even par for the round, shots like these helped.

The Cleveland Indians won in walk-off fashion for the second game in a row yesterday, beating the Minnesota Twins 5-4. After giving up a 4-1 lead in the 6th inning, there wasn’t any scoring until the bottom of the 9th. Michael Brantley went just 1-4 on the day but drove in the game-winning, walk-off RBI. Francisco Lindor went 2-5 with 3 RBI on the day for the Indians who are now 64-50 on the year.

The Top Play of the Day comes from the Bengals-Bears Preseason game, where it’s never too early for some trickery.

In today’s action, NFL Preseason continues with the Atlanta Falcons taking on the New York Jets, and the Detroit Lions facing the Oakland Raiders. The second round of the PGA Championship continues today at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri. The Cincinnati Reds are back home after a day off to face the Arizona Diamondbacks, while the Indians begin a series with the Chicago White Sox.
