LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Ola Kamara scored the opening and winning goal against the Crew; his first game against his former team since the off-season trade that brought him to Los Angeles.
After Kamara scored in the 42nd minute, it appeared that the Crew had equalized just a minute later when a cross from Gyasi Zardes hit Galaxy defender David Romney and ricocheted into the net. A check of VAR overturned the goal, showing that the ball crossed the goal line before Zardes’ pass.
In the 55th minute, the Galaxy was awarded a penalty kick after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was fouled (that’s what the ref said anyhow) by Lalas Abubakar. Stepping to the spot Ibra did what he does, burying it for a 2-0 Galaxy lead.
Romain Alessandrini completed the rout, scoring a pair, the first in the 67th minute and the second in the third minute of stoppage time.
Galaxy keeper David Bingham saved five shots for his sixth shutout of the season as the Galaxy ran their unbeaten streak to 2-0-3.
The Crew have now lost three of their last four matches and have failed to score in their last three away games.
The Crew play next on Saturday, July 14th at New York City FC. First kick is scheduled for 7pm ET.
